About My Challenge

Hi there! My name is Bonnie. I'm completing 3,249 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia. 

The benefeciary I have selected to send my proceeds to is Headspace Hervey Bay. Headspace is an organisation that offers young people support for mental and physical health, as well as alcohol, drugs, work, and study. I grew up in Hervey Bay, before moving to Brisbane in 2021. The biggest difference I have noticed between living in a small town versus a large city, is the availability of resources. This includes all kinds of resources, but particularly support resources like Headspace. Not only are there less resources in regional areas like Hervey Bay, but there is less awareness around things like mental health in general. Hervey Bay is a rapidly growing town, and while a large percentage of the population is elderly, many young people still call Hervey Bay home. I grew up with people who I know needed the kind of support Headspace can provide, and they would have had a much easier time finding it as a young person in Brisbane, compared to Hervey Bay. For this reason, it is important that support organisations and resources are prioritised in small towns the same way that they are in big cities. No matter where people are living, they may still need support. I hope that by raising money for this benefeciary specifcally, I can help to make a difference for someone who needs it.

Supporting headspace Hervey Bay

The headspace Hervey Bay Green Team is always out and about in the community creating connections and advocating for better mental health outcomes for youth! We want to raise funds to continue offering community outreach, continue offering engaging groups in centres, and continue to better mental health outcomes across the Fraser Coast!
