About My Challenge

I'm completing 3,249 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness for mental health and funds for Lifeline in Australia. This number represents the 3,249 people who tragically died of suicide in 2022 (the most recently available data).

I have lost friends to suicide. I have seen important people in my life grapple with poor mental health. I have done my best to support them, but this can be difficult to navigate with the stigma that STILL surrounds the subject. I myself have had periods in my life where I struggled, experiencing anxiety and overwhelm. Shame keeps us quiet. And silence is where the danger lies.

So if me doing a silly amount of push-ups with a group of silly friends can do ANYTHING to shift the stigma of poor mental health AND raise funds for an incredible organization such as Lifeline.... well call me Jane Fonda.

We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to listen, without judgement, to any person in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing crisis or longs to be heard.

Experience shows us it is through connection that we can find hope. With Australians struggling with cost-of-living pressures, increasing inflation, housing insecurity, global instability, and recovery after extreme weather events, our crisis support services have remained in high demand with our voice and text services receiving up to 4,000 contacts a day from help seekers. Our partnership with The Push Up Challenge has played a vital role in raising funds to support the delivery of suicide prevention and crisis support services at a time where we have never been needed more.
